Gretta Wong Grant of London, Ontario, is the first Chinese Canadian woman to become a lawyer, when she is called to the Ontario Bar in 1946. Ms. Wong Grant set up the first Legal Aid Office in London.

James Mah Ming

In Alberta, James Timothy Mah Ming became the first Chinese Canadian lawyer admitted to the Bar in 1964.  Born on December 15, 1937, in Ponoka, Mr. Mah Ming attended the University of Alberta where he received his Bachelor of Arts and received his Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia. He passed away on October 13, 2010, in Red Deer, Alberta.
